Karachi

KARACHI

Karachi is the largest and most populous city of Pakistan. Karachi is a metropolitan city and capital of Sindh province. It is the first capital of Pakistan also. Founder of Pakistan, Quai-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah belongs to this city.
People of this city called Karachiite.

Karachi is also called The City of Bright Lights and Mini Pakistan. Karachi got name of Mini Pakistan because people of almost all regions and parts of Pakistan are living in this city due to their businesses or employment.

History of Karachi

Sindhi, Balochi and Makrani tribes founded this city and it was named as "Kolachi" after the name of a fisher woman Mai Kolachi. Initially it was a village of fishers. In 1720s this village was trading across the Arabian Sea and the Persian Gulf region. Soon after this sailors and fishermen of this village a fort for the protection of the population. This fort had 2 gates; Kharadar and Methdar.
In 1839 East India Company captured the fort. In 1840 Karachi became capital of Sindh. After independence of Pakistan in 1947, Karachi became capital of Pakistan.  


Geography of Karachi

Karachi covers an area of 3527 sq. km and have about 15 million population.
Karachi is located in the south of Pakistan, on the coast of the Arabian Sea. Most of the land consisted largely of flat or rolling plains, with hills on the western and Manora Island and the Oyster Rocks. 
Its geographic coordinates are 24°51′ N 67°02′ E. 


Economy of Karachi

Karachi is the industrial and financial hub of Pakistan. Karachi is the largest economy of Pakistan. Karachi collects a about 53% of the total collections of the Federal Board of Revenue.
There are many big industrial units of Steel, Textile, Automobiles and Pharmaceutical in Karachi. While Cottage Industry of Karachi is also a big and strong industry in Pakistan.
There are many large industrial zones in Karachi such as Karachi Export Processing Zone, SITE, Korangi, Northern Bypass Industrial Zone, Bin Qasim and North Karachi Industrial Estates.


Government Administration in Karachi

In 1853 Municipal Committee was formed and in 1933 Municipal Corporation was formed. In 1996 metropolitan was divided in 5 districts each with a municipal corporation. In 2001 city district government of Karachi was created and all 5 districts were merged in it. Again in 2011, City District Government of Karachi has been de-merged and Karachi Division was formed which has following five districts:
  1. Karachi East
  2. Karachi West
  3. Karachi Central
  4. Karachi South
  5. District Malir. 
City Nazim is the administrative of Karachi City.
There are also six military cantonments in Karachi which are administered by the Pak Army.

Bahawalpur is famous for its Mahals (Palaces) and Forts. Bahawalpur is one of the largest districts of Punjab. Most part of the district is covered by Cholistan Desert/Rohi. Bahawalpur is divided in following 5 tehsils:

Bahawalpur City was founded by Nawab Muhammad Bahawal Khan-I in 1748 as Baghdad-ul-Jadidin City and was declared as Bahawalpur State in 1802 by Nawab Muhammad Bahawal Khan-II. It was an independent state during British Era. Sir Nawab Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi-V decided to join his state with Pakistan on 7 October, 1947 and it was entirely merged in Pakistan after 7 years on 14 October, 1954. Abbaside Royal Family of Baghdad ruled over the state for about 200 years (1748-1954).

Charsadda District

CHARSADDA
Charsadda is a district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. Pashtun caste is in majority in Charsadda. Previously Charsadda was a part of Peshawar Metropolitan. Utmanzai is a very famous town of Charsadda. Three rivers flow in Charsadda; River Kabul, River Swat, River Jindi. These three rivers merge into River Indus.
Nearby Important and Famous Cities and Places are Malakand, Mardan, Nowshera and Peshawar, Mohmand Agency of FATA.
Awami National Party (ANP) and Pakistan Peoples Party (Sherpao Group) are the famous political parties of Charsadda.

Larkana/ Larkano District

History of LARKANA:
Larkana is a district of Sind Province of Punjab. Larkana is also called Larkano in Sindhi. During British rule, Larkana got the status of District/ Taluka. For some time Larkana was the part of Bombay Presidency. The name was taken from the Larik (caste) as Larkana, at that time the chief of the caste was Sardar Saeed Nawaz Larik. Sardar Saeed Nawaz was the founder of Larkana.
Nau Dero Larkana is the birthplace of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and her daughter Benazir Bhutto also belongs to the district.
Mohenjo Daro, historical remains of ancient times and also an archeological site is also in Larkan District. Larkana is situated 482 ft above sea level.

Kashmore District

History of KASHMORE:
In 2004 Kashmore was separated from Jacobabad district and it was given the status of district of Sindh Province.
Kashmore is located on a point where the boundaries of three provinces; Punjab, Sindh and Baluchistan met. So geographically it is a very important district.

Dera Ismail Khan (D. I. Khan)

History of D I Khan
Dera Ismail Khan is a district of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwah Province of Pakistan. D I Khan is situated on the west bank of Indus River. Dera Ismail Khan was founded by an Arab, Ismail Khan. Ismail Khan was the son of Malik Sohrab, an Arabian Adventurer. People of D I Khan are called Derawals (Deraywal).

Total area of district is 7,326 km2. While total population of D I Khan is more than 1 Million.

Bhakkar is considered a backword and undeveloped district of Pakistan. Bhakkar was founded in fifteenth century. During British Rule Bhakkar was a tehsil of Mianwali district.

Sialkot is a city and district of Pakistani Punjab. Sialkot has exported about 3.5 million footballs for FIFA Football World Cup 2010. The approximate value of these footballs is about 5.2 million US$. Okara City and District

History of OKARA:
Okara is a famous city of Pakistan in Punjab province. Okara is a planned city and present city was built during Britain Rule. Okara is a historical city and it has many archeological remains of British, Muslims, Sikhs and Hindus eras. Okara has famous Military Dairy Farms since British Raj.
Name of Okara is derived from a word “Okaan” which is name of a tree.
Okara District is located about 110km away from Lahore on Lahore-Multan Road. Sahiwal, Kasur, Lahore, Pakpattan, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad and Bahawalnagar are the other nearest districts.

Jhelum District

JHELUM

Jhelum is well known as city of soldiers or land of martyrs and warriors. Jhelum is a district of Punjab. Sohawa, Dina, Pind Dadan Khan and Jhelum are four tehsils of Jhelum district. Jhelum is also discussed in Mahabharata (Hindu Myth). The 16th-century Grand Trunk Road passes through the city. Jhelum city is near the site of the famous Battle of the Hydaspes between the armies of Alexander the Great and Raja Porus. Nearby Important and Famous Cities and Places are Gujrat, Mirpur (Azad Kashmir), Rawalpindi, Chakwal (Present district Chakwal was a tehsil of Jhelum until 1984).

Sheikhupura District

History of SHEIKHUPURA:
Sheikhupura is a district of Punjab Pakistan. The name of Sheikhupura is derived from a nickname of Prince Jahangir, who was known as Sheikhu by his father King Akbar. The present city of Sheikhupura was built by Mughal Emperor Jahangir in 1607. Sheikhupura is an industrial city.

Hiran Minar
Hiran Minar or (Minate of Deer) is the landmark of Sheikhupura. It is situated in Sheikhupura, Pakistan. It was constructed by Emperor Jehangir as a monument to Mansraj, one of his pet deers.
Unique features of this particular complex are the antelope's grave and the distinctive water collection system. At each corner of the tank (approximately 750 by 895 feet in size), is a small, square building and a subsurface water collection system which supplied the tank; only one of these water systems is extensively exposed today. Looking north from the top of the minar, one can see a patch of forest which is similar to the scrub forest vegetation of Mughal times, while to the west are extensively-irrigated fields, a product of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, but similar in size and appearance to the well-irrigated fields of the Mughal era.

History of MANDI BAHAUDDIN:
District Mandi Baha ud Din has three tehsils (sub-divisions); Phalia, Malikwal and Mandi Baha ud Din itself. Other important towns of M.B. Din are Chillianwala, Dhok Kasib, Gujra, Helan, Kathyala Sheikhan, Mangat, Mong, Paharianwala, Qadirabad, Rasul, Wasu and Sohawa.
Formerly it was a tehsil of district Gujrat. Punjabi is the major language of Mandi Bahauddin.
