District Sargodha

SARGODHA

History of SARGODHA:
Sargodha is 11th largest city of Pakistan. There are only three planned cities in Pakistan; Islamabad, Sargodha and Faisal Abad. Mushaf Air Base Sargoda is the largest air base of Pakistan Air Force. During British Empire, Sargodha was a small town and part of District Shahpur. But it is very strange to know that after independence of Pakistan Sargodha got immense development and soon become a major city and now a days Shahpur is a Tehsil (sub-division) of Sargodha District. In 1966 Sargodha was awarded by Hilal e Istaqlal due to its bravery in 1965 Indo Pak War. Sargodha is also called as City of Falcons (Shaheenoon ka Shehar )
District Sargodha has 6 tehsils; Sargodha, Bhalwal, Shahpur, Kot Momin, Sahiwal and Sillanwali. Punjabi and Urdu are spoken languages of Sargodhians.

Sargodha is situated 172 km away from Lahore, 60 km away from Faisalabad and 40 km away from M2 Motorway.
